About this level
Medium puzzles give you 27 to 34 numbers, so there are fewer easy starting points. You still never need anything harder than finding the one spot a number can go.
The jump from easy is about where you look. On easy, most squares have only one possible number. On medium, you'll often need to flip it around: pick a number, say 7, and check where it can still go inside one box or one row. If there's only one spot, that's your move. Puzzle solvers call that a hidden single.
Notes help here. Switch Notes on and tap numbers to pencil small candidates into a square; the game clears them for you when you place a number nearby (you can turn that off in Settings).
In 200 medium puzzles from our generator, starts ranged from 27 to 34 givens (average 30.3), and 125 of them needed at least one hidden single.
